Let’s talk about Investing in the Right Wedding Photographer! Have you ever wondered where your money goes when you hire a wedding photographer? Have you wondered how much you should pay — and have you ever felt like you are investing too much for “one day”?
If you have asked one or more of these questions… or if you are curious then this post is exactly for you. While many people understand the value that goes into wedding photography, others have a vague idea
Here are some KEY factors when booking your wedding photographer…
EXPERIENCE ( time = money right? ) The time your photographer has been in business should give you more or less a pointer of their experience. Most passionate and professional wedding photographers grow with time, improving in every area.
EQUIPMENT I see clients come to me sometimes after a not so good experience because of… you guessed it. EQUIPMENT — a professional photographer should have — PROFESSIONAL GEAR. When you book your photographer you are also investing in getting the best and highest quality from our equipment. **Fun fact – Although our gear helps us achieve and deliver wonderful images — Gear is responsible for %100 of the quality — We photographers are responsible for %200 – Creativity, direction, finding the right light, getting your best angle…. You get the point right?
DIRECTION – A photographer may have the equipment, or maybe the experience too — however when you invest in your photographer you are also hiring a director of art! Yes– you get 2 x 1. Your session, wedding, event should BE fun, energetic, organized, and creative! I dislike seeing some photographers get couples and couples in the SAME poses — Boooorrriinnnggggg!!! Your photographer should make you feel comfortable with the poses done, really make your personality come alive, as well as nurture the mood you want to project in your photos.
EDITING – M’Kay.. Maybe you get 3 x1 because your photographer is also responsible for editing the photos taken on the day of your session. Your photographer will cull through the images, choosing the BEST ones and editing them by enhancing color, light, exposure, and many more details. In case you were wondering about the ” one day” — I work wayyy past the wedding day on my wedding photos until they are purrrfect! 🙂 I don’t know about other photographers but I edit EACH PHOTO separately. O.o
DELIVERY & PROFESSIONALISM – Doesn’t it feel fishy or doesn’t it give you a weird vibe when a vendor doesn’t give you an agreement to sign? or gives you a loose $ package price when you request price information? As a professional it is our responsibility to provide proper documentation to the client. I always want my clients to have information handy, to have questions answered before they are even made, this is part of the client experience.
Wetransfer and Dropbox are great — but they cripple the eye candy clients have when the images are delivered on a proper web portal or even an album.
Investing in the Right Wedding Photographer is a process that takes time, research and trust!
